A Pair of Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack
An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, as stated by police.
A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth for suspected robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.
These detentions follow a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.
A three-year-old girl was among the injured during the incident. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.
Officers arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of theft and assault near the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.
Authorities were called at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of individuals injured by an irritating chemical thought to be pepper spray.
The attack - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as terrorism - resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking facility for a short time.
