Ex- BBC Consultants Undergo Parliamentary Questioning After Allegations of Prejudice in Disclosed Memorandum
We begin with questions from Conservative lawmaker the panel's head, that oversees the group.
She commences by offering background to the disclosed memo prepared by Michael Prescott and published in a daily publication.
"I don't want the BBC tilting in any particular direction, I simply desire it balanced, fair and fair," he states.
In response to a query if he considers the British Broadcasting Corporation is institutionally biased, Prescott replies: "No I don't. To be clear, a great deal the BBC produces is exceptional - both factual and non-factual content."
But he adds: "There remains real work that must be undertaken at the BBC."
A further ex-adviser BBC consultant questioned by the panel, Caroline Daniel, remarks she views the British Broadcasting Corporation with great importance and that it maintains a "continuous process and vigorous discourse" on dynamic and complex issues.
"Was the BBC ready to have a genuine conversation and argument and take action?" she asks herself. "As I see it, affirmative, they were."
