Ex- Doctor Faces Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors have announced that a former physician now faces charges for carrying out sexual assaults against 38 victims who were patients.
The Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
One deputy chief CPS official commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
These allegations follow what police called a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
List of Offences
Prosecutors said the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
