New Particulars Come to Light Concerning the Discovery of the Reiner Couple's Bodies
New information has come to light regarding the untimely deaths of renowned director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their residence home on Sunday.
A Discovery
As detailed in an account citing a confidential source, a massage therapist arriving for an session first raised the alarm after being unable to gain access the home. This individual then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides close by.
When she went into the residence, Romy found her father's body. It is said she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Another individual who had gone with her promptly called 911. Subsequently, emergency responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Developments
The police have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of premeditated murder, as well as the alleged use of a deadly weapon, reportedly a knife. He is presently being held and denied bail.
Clarifications
The confidential informant also disputed several previously reported details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a detached unit on the grounds, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that juncture.
Furthermore pushed back against published suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "concerned" about Nick's behavior in the weeks leading up to the incident. Instead the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
This refutation includes accounts of reportedly "erratic" conduct by Nick at a party hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the bodies were found. While the source noted they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they asserted that claims of a "heated argument" between the two were not correct.
Investigation Details
As stated by law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts suggested the state of their bodies implied they had been dead for a number of hours.
Nick Reiner was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the family home. He was scheduled to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would not appear until Wednesday or later.
