President Trump Calls Families of Injured Military Soldiers to the Presidential Residence

Former President Trump announced on Sunday that he has asked the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the White House.

He added that he contacted her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Details on the Heartbreaking Shooting

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a shooting on last Wednesday in DC.

Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Vigils across West Virginia have occurred in their remembrance.

White House Offer

The commander-in-chief explained he’s discussed a White House visit for the families of both members of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump addressed journalists. “And in the same way with him, whether he recovers or not.”

Community Reaction

Mourners assembled over the past few days at a local school in the state to pay respects to Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of Trump’s government program to aid policing efforts in the capital.

Remembering Beckstrom

“Sarah was the kind of student that instructors desired. She carried herself with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that encouraged those around her,” the principal, the principal of her previous school, told the Associated Press. “She was kind, compassionate and always ready to help others.”

Funeral plans for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Legal Measures and Policy Adjustments

Officials have indicted a 29-year-old Afghan national with one count of murder and two counts of violent assault while armed.

The tragedy caused the Trump administration to pause asylum processing and halt issuing entry permits to owners of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of the Airman

Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, as reported by the AP.

He remains under medical supervision and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s leader the governor stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general Pam Bondi informed a news show that she planned to speak to Wolfe’s family.

Legacy of the Fallen Soldier

Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a military police officer with distinction, as stated by the state guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she certainly had fortitude,” he informed the crowd at the vigil. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
