An extensive two-month journey around the Land Down Under is being halted in the wake of the death of an senior woman who was stranded by the vessel on a distant coastal location.

The elderly woman had been hiking on the remote island with fellow passengers from the cruise ship, but parted ways from the party for a rest. The vessel left without her and came back after some time after the personnel discovered the lady was unaccounted for.

A major hunt located her body the following day.

Officials are examining the tragedy, in coordination with police and the medical examiner.

Head of the shipping company said that passengers and personnel on the Coral Adventurer were told that the continuation of the journey had been terminated due to the "unfortunate death and prior engine troubles".

Through an announcement, he further stated that guests would be provided a total repayment, and said the organization was working "to organize the return journeys of the individuals via private aircraft".

Officials also issued an updated communication, and said they had "provided a notice to the Commander" banning any further travelers from boarding the liner.
