Slot Insists He Is Safe and Has The Club's Backing Following PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it was expected for doubts to be raised about his future following a further convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in 12 games, representing the club's poorest run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I've received a lot of backing from management,” Slot stated.

“It would be great to turn it around and get a victory of course but if you are coaching a team and not doing well then it's expected that people question you.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my role. It is not the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Club Management

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the team officials, the head coach revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and to me and those talks happen but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “Through standard discussions I perceive the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them since this game yet so let’s see.”

Familiar Failings and Squad Response

The manager expressed regret over known weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It is not good enough. I don't need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I play for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a spell like this with outcomes like these.”

He stated, “But we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And until it is removed, we'll continue to battle.”

“We will attempt to help the side return to where it needs to be, prove again the values of this club and why it's known as the best team in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
