The Renowned Musician Urges Public Help to Send Together for Palestine Song to UK Christmas No 1.

A fundraising initiative is aiming to send a Palestinian lullaby to the Christmas number one spot. The campaign aims to send support to people in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian artistic heritage.

An Opportunity for Unity and an "Unlikely Coup"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to stand with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He noted the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“It would be incredible if that occurred, yes,” he commented. “I wouldn't be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”

Defiant Message of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the adaptation of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.

“It has a deeply meaningful spot for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would choose to perish with honor than spend my life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we seek to lead a respectful existence that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Production History and Star-Studded Lineup

The song was recorded in the wake of a major charity concert held in September. Initially planned to be captured during the live event, the rendition was cut from the show due to the event running long.

The impressive roster of artists appearing on Lullaby encompasses a range of acclaimed names from the music world. All were part of the September show, which managed to collect a substantial amount for humanitarian aid.

Final Touches and Availability

Lullaby was produced by a team of talented individuals. The track blends a combination of the heritage language with freshly written English words.

The organizers behind the project have emphasized that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a charitable pot. These proceeds will be distributed to Palestinian causes through an non-profit partner.

“There is no a specific target,” a representative said. “We aim for whatever we can get. Naturally, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”

The situation in the territory was described as its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of infrastructure described as destroyed or damaged.

“Against that backdrop, a couple of million won't make that much difference. But I think what does make a difference is above all raising awareness for this issue and proving the human dimension of the story.”

The song is set to be released at the end of the week. Additionally, a complete film of the charity concert will be made ready to watch on a digital service from the 19th of December.
